I have known Le Touquet and Stella Plage for over fifty years, and am now taking in the whole of the Opal Coast.

Getting to the Opal Coast is easy when you know how. In 2026, you cannot alight from an international train at Calais-Frethun, nor can you arrive at Calais by scheduled Coach.

Except for landing at Elizabeth II International airport in Le Touquet, I have travelled there by every means there is. Hovercraft and Catamarans no longer operate on this part of the English Channel, Folkestone Harbour station is an open air museum, and Boulogne ferry port has only recently reopened with a service to Cork, in the Republic of Ireland. I have alighted from a coach, from London Victoria, at Calais Ferry Port, but that is not currently possible.
